Different Strokes is an LGBT dragon boat club that trains in Sydney. Each year we do a float for the Mardi Gras celebrations. The theme this year was ‘What Matters’ and having just emerged off the back of an awful bushfire season we landed on a theme of climate change for the float.
Our float was an ‘Apology to Mother Earth’ for messing up the planet. 60 earth warriors danced an apology to a fire god that sat atop a giant smoking volcano whilst trying to fan their flames. Behind the dancers, a sign read simply ‘Sorry’ with the ‘O’ a giant, glowing earth.
