The Australian Job

Transforming movie accounting into a cinematic experience.

Ausfilm approached us to develop an email campaign that would entice high-profile film producers to consider completing their post-production in Australia, remotely. Seeing parallels with classic caper films, we repackaged the complexities of filmmaking accounting into a thrilling film trailer and accompanying incentives calculator.

The Australian Job – Online film direct mailer (02:27)

Australia has been a haven for international film and TV production throughout the maelstrom of Covid-19. Ausfilm wanted to remind high-profile film producers that Australia is also a leader in remote post-production capabilities. The Australian Job draws on classic genre films, where only the perfect team of experts ensures success. It portrays Hollywood producer and her Aussie “fixer” as the masterminds behind assembling the perfect team of remote post-production talent. Beginning with an email that disguised the trailer as an upcoming film release, recipients were then directed to a bespoke web-based incentives calculator that simplified the financial advantages of working remotely in Australia. As a follow-up, each recipient received a souvenir film poster complete with a listing of Australia’s post-production houses. Taking stylistic cues from Inception and Baby Driver, The Australian Job was filmed during Australia’s Delta lockdown and features Ausfilm member contributions for visual effects, colour grade, titles, score and sound post-production — all completed remotely.
